★★★★★
“Had a great experience with Raydn Renewables. Dima and his team were friendly, professional, and easy to work with from start to finish. They answered all my questions, showed up when they said they would, and the installation was done quickly and looks awesome. You can tell they really care about doing quality work and making sure everything is done right. The whole process was way easier than I expected, and I never felt like they were trying to sell me something I didn't need. I'd definitely recommend Raydn Renewables to anyone looking for solar or electrical work. Really happy with the service!”

★★★★★
“We were having some ongoing issues with the solar system that another company originally installed a while back. I called Raydn Renewables to come out and do some maintenance to see if they could sort it out. Dmitry showed up on time, tracked down the problem quickly, and got everything working exactly the way it should be. He took the time to answer all of our questions and explained the fix without any of the usual contractor runaround. It's hard to find tradesmen who show up, do clean work, and actually know their stuff inside and out. If you need reliable solar maintenance or a solid electrician in Alberta, I'd highly recommend Dmitry and the Raydn team. Honest guys, great service, and zero BS.”

Why we built this page

More door-to-door solar reps than ever in Alberta. Most are pure commission. Never touched a panel, run a wire, or read a permit. Knock, talk fast, promise the world, sign you up, disappear. Use this decoder. Share it.

01
"You qualify for a free solar program. The government pays for it."
Red Flag

There is no free solar program in Alberta. The federal Canada Greener Homes Grant ended in 2024. What they mean is a 20-year financing loan attached to your house. You pay every dollar back, with interest.

Real Math

A $35,000 system at their typical 7.99% over 25 years = $324/mo, or $97,200 paid back. Edmonton CEIP at 6% over 20 years for the same system = $251/mo, $60,240 paid back. That's a $37,000 difference for the same panels on the same roof.

What Raydn Does

We tell you upfront: solar is not free. It is financed. We show you the CEIP option first because it is the cheapest financing in Alberta at 6.0% fixed. If you do not qualify, we show you private options at honest rates.

02
"You'll save $300 a month. Your power bill will go to zero."
Red Flag

Most Edmonton homes do not have $300/month bills. Fixed delivery charges mean your bill never hits zero. Anyone promising it either does not understand the grid, or hopes you don’t.

Real Math

Average Edmonton bill: $180 to 220/month. Of that, $80 to 100 is fixed delivery solar cannot offset. Realistic savings: $80 to 140/month, plus Solar Club HI credits at 35¢/kWh for summer overproduction.

What Raydn Does

We pull your last 12 months of EPCOR or ENMAX bills, calculate your real consumption, then size a system that offsets the variable portion you can actually reduce. Real numbers, not slogans.

03
"You need to sign tonight. The rebate ends Friday."
Red Flag

There is no rebate that ends Friday. Alberta has no provincial solar rebate. Edmonton's CEIP program runs year-round. This is pure pressure sales designed to stop you from getting a second quote.

Real Math

Every weekend gives you 48 more hours to compare quotes. A second quote typically costs $0 and saves the average homeowner $8,000 to $15,000. Calculate that hourly rate.

What Raydn Does

Our quotes are valid 30 days. Take them to three other companies. We hope you do, because we are usually 20 to 35% cheaper for the same equipment.

04
"Your roof is perfect, we can fit 30+ panels."
Red Flag

Oversizing is the most expensive trick. Sold 14 kW when you need 7 kW, the extra panels feed Alberta’s net-billing rate at a fraction of retail. You overpay $15 to 20k and never recoup it.

Real Math

A 7 kW system in Edmonton generates roughly 8,400 kWh/year. The average home uses 7,200 to 8,500 kWh/year. Anything beyond about 110% of annual consumption is poor economics in Alberta. EPCOR's micro-generation rules also cap export size.

What Raydn Does

We size to your actual consumption plus 5 to 10% for EV or future growth. If you want bigger for ego reasons, we tell you the payback math first. No surprises in year 8.

05
"We use the best panels on the market, Tier 1, 25-year warranty."
Red Flag

"Tier 1" is a Bloomberg financing rating, not a quality rating. Most major panel brands meet it. The salesperson rarely says the brand, the wattage, or who honors the warranty if the installer disappears.

Real Math

Ask three questions: (1) What's the exact panel make and model? (2) What's the inverter brand? (3) Who installs warranty work if your installer closes? If they cannot answer all three in writing, walk away.

What Raydn Does

We name the panel (Canadian Solar, Trina or Q Cells, 410 to 450W), the inverter (Enphase microinverters or Solis hybrids). We are the warranty contact for the install life. Master Electrician #13824, verifiable on Service Alberta.

06
"Sign here and we'll handle the permits and the EPCOR application."
Red Flag

Many door-to-door companies subcontract to whoever is cheapest. The crew has never met the salesperson. Permits are pulled under a third name. If inspection fails, you chase three parties.

Real Math

Ask who specifically will install. Ask for the Master Electrician license number that the permit will be pulled under. Verify it at the Service Alberta business registry before signing. This takes 4 minutes and protects $30,000.

What Raydn Does

Our own licensed crew installs every job. No subcontractors. Permits are pulled under our Master Electrician license. We meet you, we install, we close out the EPCOR micro-generation application. One company, one accountability chain.

07
"This payment is locked in, your bill is fixed for 25 years."
Red Flag

Your loan payment is fixed. Your electricity savings are not. If they sized your system poorly, you owe the same $324/month whether the panels produce or not. The "locked in" promise is about the bank's side, not yours.

Real Math

Ask for the production guarantee in writing. What kWh/year are they promising? What is the remediation if you fall short? Most door-to-door contracts have no production guarantee, which means all the risk is yours.

What Raydn Does

We give you a PVWatts production estimate for your specific roof, orientation, and shading. If our number is off by more than 10% in years 1 to 2 and equipment is healthy, we make it right.

How to verify any solar contractor in Alberta

Before you sign with anyone (including us), do these two checks. They take five minutes and protect tens of thousands of dollars.

  1. Search the CEIP contractor directory. Alberta Municipalities runs the official registry. If a contractor cannot be found there, they cannot offer CEIP property-tax financing. Raydn is registered as #CEIP-02428.
  2. Look up the Master Electrician licence number on the Service Alberta business registry. Permits are pulled under this licence. If they cannot give you a number, walk away.
Open the CEIP Contractor Directory

Tip: results randomize each visit, so type Raydn (or any contractor name) in the search box to find a specific company.

Bring us their quote. We'll show you line by line where they padded it.

Free. 24 hours. No obligation. No salesperson visit unless you ask. Just numbers.
