The 25-year question nobody else answers

Solar is a 25-year relationship. Here is exactly what that looks like.

A good system outlives most trucks, most roofs, and plenty of companies. So the real question is not “how cheap” today, it is “who stands behind it” for the next quarter century. Here is the plain-English timeline, in writing, no salesperson translation required.

  1. Years 1 to 10

    The install itself is on us.

    5-year Raydn workmanship warranty. If a connection we made fails in that window, we fix it, no invoice.

    Every panel we mount and every wire we run is covered for labour and installation. The roof we drilled is covered by our own crew, and every roof is structurally spec-checked before a single hole goes in.

    My licence number is on the permit, Master Electrician #13824, so there is a name attached to that work for the next 25 years.

  2. Year 12

    The part that actually ages is covered.

    12 years on most string inverters, up to 25 on microinverters. The manufacturer covers the part. We handle the swap.

    Why the inverter is the one that ages Tap to read it

    Panels sit there. The inverter is the component that works hardest, switching every second the sun is up, so it is the one that wears. We match the inverter to your roof instead of fitting whatever came in on the pallet. You keep producing through the swap.

  3. Year 25

    Your panels are still guaranteed to produce.

    25-year performance warranty from the panel maker, not from us. It holds regardless of who is around to answer the phone.

    My own roof, 4 years in Tap for the real numbers

    Tier-1 panels guarantee a set percentage of rated output decades in, and that paperwork is backed by the panel maker. I do not have 25 years of my own data yet. I have 4.

    My own 9.56 kW system has been on my roof since September 2022. December 2025 made 3 kWh for the whole month under snow cover. July 2026 made 1,360. Both numbers are off my own meter, not a brochure.

Where these numbers come from

The Section 64 requirements here are not house style. Alberta Municipal Affairs publishes the interpretation, STANDATA 18-ECI-064, Section 64 renewable energy systems, read 27 August 2026, and there is a plain language walkthrough of the section in the Guide to the Canadian Electrical Code, Section 64.

The interconnection side is regulation too. The Alberta Micro-generation Regulation is what your distribution facility owner is applying when it approves or sends back a micro-generation application.
