Check us before you trust us
Five things you can check on a contractor before anybody shows up.
Everything above this is us talking about ourselves, which is worth exactly what you paid for it. So here is the other half.
Five checks you can run on any electrical company in Alberta, three of them straight out of the city and WCB rulebooks, and every one of them works on us too. Run them on us first.
Tap any check.

Ask who pulls the permit
Edmonton requires an electrical permit to install, alter or add to an electrical system. That covers a basement, garage wiring, an EV charger and a service upgrade. So somebody is pulling one on your job, and it matters a great deal who.
Why it matters.
- Edmonton issues a homeowner permit on two conditions.
The homeowner must own and live in a single-family dwelling
andthe homeowner must be doing the work themselves
. The city's words. - So a contractor who asks you to pull the homeowner permit is asking you to sign a document saying you did work you did not do, and the inspection sits against your name instead of their licence.
How to check it yourself. Read the conditions on the city page yourself before you sign anything. It takes two minutes: City of Edmonton, electrical permits.

Pull a WCB clearance letter
This one is free, it takes a few minutes, and almost no homeowner does it. WCB Alberta will tell you whether the company about to climb on your roof has actually paid its premiums.
Why it matters.
- WCB puts it plainly.
If you do not have a clearance letter and the contractor has not paid their premiums, you may be liable for those premiums.
A crew on your roof is a crew on your property, and their unpaid bill can land on you.
How to check it yourself. WCB says to get the clearance before you hire and again before you release payment. You do not even need an account to request one: WCB Alberta, clearance letters.

Check the city business licence
There is one line on the city permit page that most people scroll straight past. Contractors must be licensed with the City of Edmonton and hold a valid business licence with the city.
Why it matters.
- A contractor without the city licence cannot pull your permit. Which means the work either goes in with no permit at all, or it goes in under your name.
- Both of those become your problem years later, at resale or at a claim, and neither becomes theirs.
How to check it yourself. Ask for the legal registered name, not the name on the truck. A company that will not tell you what it is registered as has already answered a different question.

Find out who actually signs off
A licence belongs to a person, never to a logo. Sales companies sell the job and hand it to whoever is cheapest that week, so ask for the human being who carries the ticket on your job.
Why it matters.
- If nobody will give you a name and a number, then nobody has put their ticket behind the work.
- In three years when something needs sorting out there is no person to go back to, only a phone queue that may not exist anymore.
How to check it yourself.
- Mine is Dmitry Naboka, Master Electrician #13824, and Kyle V. is my co-owner, a Journeyman with 20 years on the tools.
- Ask every company you are talking to for the same two things and see how long each one takes to answer.

Make the quote name the equipment
One number on a page is a price, not a quote. A real quote tells you exactly what is going on your house, in enough detail that you could order the parts yourself.
Why it matters.
- A quote with no model numbers cannot be compared against anything, which is very often the entire point of leaving them out.
- It also means whatever happens to be on the truck that morning is what ends up on your roof.
How to check it yourself. Line the quotes up beside each other and count the named parts. If you want a second read on one of them, that is a thing we do: have your quote audited.
Five checks, and four of them happen before a single tool comes out of the truck. Any company that survives all five is worth talking to, whether that is us or not.

For the homeowner doing their homework
Your warranties are backed by the manufacturers, not just us.
Raydn was founded in August 2025 by Dmitry Naboka and Kyle.

Journeyman Electrician, 20 years on the tools
We were both installing solar for other Alberta companies for years before starting Raydn. We are not new to solar.
Raydn as a legal entity is new, and we are here for the long haul.
Here is why your investment is protected no matter what. The real warranties on your gear are held by the manufacturers directly:
Your panels
25-year manufacturer warranty stays with the manufacturer
Q CELLS, Canadian Solar, Silfab honor their warranty direct. Not through us.
Your microinverters
25-year Enphase warranty stays with Enphase
Enphase runs a Canadian claims desk. Any certified installer can service them.
Your battery
Tesla Powerwall + EP Cube warranties stay with the OEM
Powerwall has a 10-year direct-from-Tesla warranty. Same for EP Cube through Canadian Solar.
Your electrical work
Permitted and inspected under Master Electrician #13824 on file with the Alberta Safety Codes Council
Every job is on record with Alberta Municipal Affairs. Any licensed electrician in Alberta can pick it up if we’re gone.
The only thing tied to Raydn specifically is our 5-year workmanship warranty on the solar install, covering the rack and roof penetrations.
Panels
The panel manufacturer honors defects.
Inverter
The inverter maker honors their gear.
The AC side
Any Alberta-licensed electrician can service the AC side.
If we close inside that window every one of those still stands, and you are not orphaned.
This is why we push you to read your warranty paperwork before you sign, with any installer you talk to. What matters is whether the paperwork you signed still protects you years down the road. Ours does, and it is backed by the manufacturers.

Co-owner
His co-owner Kyle V., a Journeyman with 20 years on the tools, works alongside him on every job
If it runs on electricity, he can figure it out.
Every job on the crew moves under one of their hands.
Alongside the trade, he completed a Business diploma at NAIT, the reason Raydn projects run on schedule, on budget, and without surprises. Off the tools, he is a BJJ purple belt. Same discipline, different mat.
He founded Raydn Renewables to build a team that does the job right, treats clients like adults, and never subcontracts work to people they don't know.
The Team
50+ Completed Jobs Across Alberta
Every one of those jobs was designed, wired, and signed off by the owner personally. 14 years on the tools, Master Electrician, and my own roof has been running since 2022. We chase the work we can stand behind, not the volume.
Led by Dmitry Naboka, Master Electrician (#13824). Co-owner Kyle V., a Journeyman, and three apprentices round out our five-person crew. Every wire we run is pulled by someone on this list.
Then Kyle picks up. He is my co-owner and a Journeyman with 20 years on the tools.
A second decision-maker
so you get a second decision-maker, not a message-taker.
A text back the same day
If we both have hands full, you get a text back the same day, never a week later from a call centre in another province.
Never left waiting
and there are enough hands on the crew that you are never left waiting.
An owner answers every time.
Built Different
We do not have soft hands.
And we are proud of that.
Alberta tradesmen. Canadian-built. No shortcuts.
Tradespeople who came up through the tools, not a sales pitch. We’re in the bucket truck at minus twenty, running conduit in the rain. Because our name is on every permit we pull.
There is no sub-standard here. Best materials, best practices, no corners cut, no matter who the client is or where the job is. That is just how trades are supposed to work.
Bigger than a solar company. A cleaner, stronger Alberta, one install at a time. It shows in how we talk to you, what wire we spec, how we leave your property.
Why We Do This
“Solar, battery, EV.
Wired right the first time.”
Every job leaves your home safer, cleaner, and cheaper to run, wired to code by the Master Electrician who stamps the permit. That's not a marketing line. It's why Dmitry got into this work in the first place, and why the whole team shows up every day.
There is a bigger mission behind this work. See our North Star →
