Asphalt in Alberta lasts 15 to 25 years, metal 40 to 50, and the array is warranted for 25 no matter what is under it. Penetrations
Sealed and documented at every mount
Standing seam clamps mean zero penetrations. On shingles we use approved flashing at every mount point and document it.

Probably yes. A 12-year-old roof in good shape can carry a 25-year array, but the timing is tight. Joint inspection decides: 10+ years left, we install. 5 to 7 years left, we talk reroof first. We won’t bolt panels into a roof that will fail before the warranty.
Done wrong, yes. Done right, no. Manufacturer warranties cover defects, not penetrations. The flashing and sealant work matters more than the shingle brand. Every Raydn crew is roof-certified, we use approved flashing at every mount point, and we document it.
That is the conversation we are trying to avoid by inspecting first. If it does happen, we coordinate the panel removal and reinstall. There is a labour cost. The point of the joint inspection is to catch the problem before you sign so you never face this bill. If you opt for metal during install, this scenario disappears entirely.

No. We are happy to coordinate with any licensed roofer you already trust. We recommend Balance Roofing because we have walked many roofs with them and we know the work. But the joint-inspection process works just as well with your guy. The point is that someone qualified looks at the roof before solar goes up.
Most years in Alberta, you don’t. Snow slides, rain rinses, tilt handles dust. If pollen, ash, or bird mess needs clearing, don’t climb your own roof. We refer customers to Lakusta. Trained, insured, already up there for window work.
