RV rooftop solar panel installation in Alberta

RV & Off-Grid Sizing Calculator

Size your off-grid solar and battery in about a minute

Tell us how you camp and what you run. We will turn that into real solar watts, a real LiFePO4 battery bank in amp hours, and a real inverter size, not a guess pulled from a forum thread.

Question 1 of 4

Do you run air conditioning?

This is the honest driver of the whole build. An RV air conditioner is the single biggest load, so it decides your inverter and how big a battery bank you really need. Not sure of the size? Look for the BTU rating on the rooftop unit label.

Question 2 of 4

How do you use your rig?

This sets your everyday draw. The fridge, lights, water pump, and device charging that run whether or not the AC is on.

Stay connected anywhere

Add Starlink for always-on internet

Constant comms and internet, miles from the nearest hookup. It is the biggest optional draw on a rig, so if you want it, we size the bank and array to carry it honestly.

Flip this on to include Starlink for constant internet, even miles from a hookup.

Question 3 of 4

How much roof do you have for panels?

Most RVs ship with a single panel. The real question is how many more your roof can carry once you work around vents, the AC unit, and hatches. A rough call is fine. We confirm the layout when we build.

Question 4 of 4

How far off the grid do you go?

This sets how much battery runtime we build in, and whether a 24V bank makes sense. A bidirectional inverter and charger means the same system runs off-grid or hooks straight to shore power.

When you do plug in, what shore service is on the pedestal?

This sets how much power the rig can pull through the cord for charging and pass-through. 50A rigs charge the bank faster and run heavier loads on shore. It does not change your off-grid solar math.

“Had a great experience with Raydn Renewables. Dima and his team were friendly, professional, and easy to work with from start to finish. They answered all my questions, showed up when they said they would, and the installation was done quickly and looks awesome. You can tell they really care about doing quality work and making sure everything is done right. The whole process was way easier than I expected, and I never felt like they were trying to sell me something I didn't need. I'd definitely recommend Raydn Renewables to anyone looking for solar or electrical work. Really happy with the service!”

What happens next

Three steps, sized to your actual rig.

  1. 1

    Tell me how you camp

Boondocking in October is a different system than serviced sites in July. That answer sizes the bank.

  2. 2

I spec it against your roof

Real panel dimensions on your actual roof, minus the vents and the AC shroud. No wishful layouts.

  3. 3

    You get the build sheet

Panels, controller, inverter, bank and wire gauge, itemised. Install it yourself or book us.
